Playing for More Than Par

Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Golf Fundraiser

In Montrose each summer, friends, neighbors, and golfers come together on the links not just to play the game they love, but to raise funds and awareness for Bosom Buddies of Southwestern Colorado — a grassroots breast cancer support organization that has helped thousands in our community with financial assistance, mammograms, counseling, and care, all while celebrating resilience, hope, and early detection.

The day begins the way it should, with joy, closeness, and a reminder of why everyone showed up in the first place.

Before golf, there’s gathering, checking in, and the quiet logistics that make a day like this possible.

A small table becomes a symbol, pink ribbons, hole numbers, and personal touches standing in for stories far larger than the course itself.

When everyone comes together, the scale of the effort becomes visible, a community bound by purpose, not scorecards.

At the first tee, nerves, laughter, and anticipation mix in the morning light.

Lining up a putt becomes less about the stroke and more about being present together.

Every round is built from small rituals, placing the ball, steadying the club, committing to the moment.

Sometimes the smallest moments carry the most anticipation.

The cause extends beyond pink shirts, carried just as earnestly by those who step up to support it.

Celebration here looks like togetherness, pink shirts, shared smiles, and a sense of belonging that outlasts the round.

Around the green, patience and encouragement matter as much as the putt itself.

As the day winds down, the carts roll on, carrying clubs, conversations, and the quiet satisfaction of having played for something bigger.
